Former Indian cricketer Ramesh Powar has made a name for himself not only on the field but also as a coach. Born on May 20, 1978, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Powar had a successful international career representing India in both Test matches and One Day Internationals (ODIs). As a right-handed batsman and an off-spin bowler, Powar showcased his skills on numerous occasions.

During his time playing for the Indian national team from 2004 to 2007, Powar featured in 2 Test matches and 31 ODIs. In his Test debut against Zimbabwe, he made an immediate impact by taking 3 wickets. But it was in ODIs that Powar truly shone, with his best performance coming against West Indies in 2007, where he took 3 wickets for only 34 runs.

Powar's attacking batting style and ability to hit big sixes made him a force to be reckoned with. Throughout his domestic career, he represented teams like Mumbai, Rajasthan Royals, and Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

After his retirement, Powar ventured into coaching and has since earned acclaim for his analytical and strategic approach. He worked with various teams, including the Indian women's cricket team. In 2018, Powar was appointed as the interim head coach of the Indian women's team, later becoming the permanent head coach.

However, Powar's coaching career has not been without controversy. One notable controversy arose during his tenure as the women's team coach when he had a public disagreement with senior player Mithali Raj. Despite the controversies, Powar's contributions to Indian cricket as both a player and coach should not be undermined.
