Former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput has established himself as a prominent figure in the world of coaching. Born on 18th December 1961 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Rajput began his cricketing career as a right-handed opening batsman for Mumbai in domestic cricket.
Making his international debut in 1985 against Sri Lanka, Rajput went on to play four Test matches and seven One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for the Indian cricket team. In Test matches, he scored 205 runs with an average of 34.16, including one century and one half-century. In ODIs, Rajput accumulated 182 runs with an average of 30.33.
After retiring from playing, Rajput transitioned into coaching roles. He served as the coach of the Indian Under-19 team and played a pivotal role as the manager of the Indian cricket team during their victorious campaign in the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 in 2007. With his guidance, the team claimed the title, leaving a lasting impact on Indian cricket.
Rajput's coaching prowess extended beyond the borders of India. From 2016 to 2018, he took charge of the Afghanistan national cricket team. During his tenure, Afghanistan achieved remarkable milestones, including their maiden Test match victory.
