Mohit Chauhan

Bollywood Singer from Mumbai

Mohit Chauhan started his career, singing pop songs with the Silk Route, one of India's most popular indi-pop bands. His soft demeanour and media-shy persona made him an instant favourite both within the industry and amongst his fans.

Mohit Chauhan shot to fame with the song 'Dooba Dooba' from Silk Route's debut album Boondein. Silk Route's album Boondein was such a rage, that Mohit is still referred to as the 'Dooba Dooba' guy. But he started fading from public memory when Boondein wasn't followed up with another album from the band.

His career got a flying start when he was roped in to sing a song in the film Rang De Basanti by none other than A R Rahman. His song 'Khoon Chala' was widely appreciated after which his next hit song was 'Tum Se Hi' composed by Pritam, from the film Jab We Met.

In an interview, the singer insists that he never went away from Bollywood. After a successful stint with the band, his film career started as a low key affair with a few forgettable songs.

Some of his best work int he recent times is the song 'Masakali' from the film Delhi-6 composed by A R Rahman. He also sang the songs 'Tu Ne Jo Na Kaha' for the 2009 film New York, 'Ye dooriyan' for Love Aaj Kal, and 'Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai' for Kaminey.
