Jelena Noura "Gigi" Hadid is an American model. In November 2014, Hadid made her debut in the Top 50 Models ranking at Models.com. In 2016, she was named International Model of the Year by the British Fashion Council. Over the span of four years, Hadid has made 35 appearances on international Vogue magazine covers.
Jelena Noura Hadid was born in Los Angeles to real estate developer Mohamed Hadid and former model Yolanda Hadid. Her mother is Dutch, and her father is Palestinian. Through her father, she claims descent from Daher Al Omer, Prince of Nazareth.
Hadid has two younger siblings, sister Bella and brother Anwar, both of whom are also models. She has two older paternal half-sisters, Marielle and Alana. In 2013, Hadid graduated from Malibu High School, where she was captain of the varsity volleyball team as well as a competitive horseback rider.Following high school, she moved to New York City. Hadid studied criminal psychology at The New School beginning in the fall of 2013, but suspended her studies to focus on her modeling career.

Hadid's modeling career began when she was two years old after being discovered by Paul Marciano of Guess clothing. She started modeling with Baby Guess before stopping to concentrate on school. Hadid eventually returned to modeling in 2011. She resumed working with Marciano, and was named the face of a Guess campaign in 2012. Hadid has shot three campaigns with Guess as an adult.

In January 2016, Hadid participated in MasterChef and raised $25,000 for a Lyme disease charity Global Lyme Alliance after winning the show. In October 2016 she joined other celebrities in supporting the BBC's Children in Need's T-shirt philanthropy project. The shirt, designed by Giles Deacon, sold for $15 with 70% of all the proceeds going to the charity.On May 3, 2020, Hadid and other celebrities joined forces to play a virtual charity tennis match. They played live on Facebook Gaming app. Organized by IMG Tennis, the participants all received $25,000 to donate to a charity of their choice. The winners got an additional $1 million to donate, and Hadid announced she played for non-profit organization Feeding America. In June 2020, Hadid auctioned off some of her clothes as part of a charity auction organised by British Vogue that benefit NHS Charities Together and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).Hadid has shown support for Black Lives Matter movement. She announced the launch of her Gigi Journal Part II, a quarantine journal the collaboration with V magazine in July 2020. The journal also includes the Black Lives Matter movement. A percentage of the sales of the journal was donated to four organisations; Black Lives Matter, the NAACP, the ACLU, and Campaign Zero, with a personal donation by Hadid.In January 2017, after Donald Trump signed Executive Order 13780 which was described by media outlets as a "Muslim ban", Hadid and her sister, Bella, protested among others in New York City. Hadid announced in May 2018 that she will be working closely with Unicef to help children around the world. On August 25, she went on her first mission with Unicef to visit their programing in Bangladesh. The trip fell on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the Rohingya refugee crisis.
