About Paulina Guerra
Paulina grew up in Monterrey, Mexico, with the music her teenage brothers listened to: 80's rock. Before she started going to school, her parents enrolled her in dance lessons: first ballet, then jazz and tap, and finally hip hop too. These dance lessons eventually led to her obsession with pop music.At the age of nine, Paulina performed in her first school musical, where she discovered her passion for performance. At home, she'd spend hours in her room, blasting music, belting her heart out, and choreographing music video-like steps in front of the mirror.In place of homework, she'd watch MTV, another key influence in her musical taste. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, Paulina said a singer and actress. Her family would laugh it off, thinking she was a little girl with big dreams. Eventually, they realized it was no joke.In an effort to test whether or not she really wanted to perform for a living, Paulina's parents agreed to pay for her studies at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts: CAP21, where Lady Gaga, Anne Hathaway, Matthew Morrison, and Kristen Bell were also taught. Paulina then got the chance to learn from instructors like Christine Dhimos, Bill Daugherty, Ashley Eichbauer, Todd Alsup, among others. That summer cemented performing arts as Paulina's life dream.Back in Monterrey, she finished high school while applying to universities in the US. She spent her senior summer at Producciones Diez17, a professional recording studio, where she and her brother Yiyo (Berklee '10), wrote and recorded her first single, "Now I Know."Weeks later, Paulina moved to San Francisco, where she went to college and studied musical theatre under Barbara Damashek. Three and a half years later, Paulina graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, packed up her things, and moved to the city of her dreams: Los Angeles. Paulina wishes to secure a record deal so she can concentrate on performing to grow a permanent fan base....
