He is of English and French descent. His family is related to former President Herbert Hoover, Dr. William Champlin, who served in the post civil war Mississippi legislature, explorer Samuel de Champlain and actor Sidney Toler. Following a career as a Manager and Administrator for a State of California tax agency, he began his acting career playing a District Attorney in two episodes of Dexter: Our Father (2008).
