Maurice McRae is a New York-based stage/screen actor whose work has been seen on and off Broadway, on episodic television and in independent films. A San Francisco native, he has a M.F.A. in Theater Arts from Rutgers University, graduating at the top of his class; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Morehouse College.His New York stage credits include: Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning play SWEAT (B'way-Studio 54); SPILL (Ensemble Studio Theatre), COLLAPSE (New York City Center) and Colman Domingo's WILD WITH HAPPY (The Public Theatre). Regional theater credits include: MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM (Baltimore Centerstage & Philadelphia Theatre Company), MARCUS; OR THE SECRET OF SWEET (City Theatre of Pittsburgh), and THE PIANO LESSON (Long Beach Playhouse, Los Angeles). He also appeared in SWITCH!, a short play by Karen Chilton for the Obie award-winning theater festival, The Fire This Time (Kraine Theater).On camera, Maurice has appeared on the television series Elementary (CBS), 24 (ABC), and Terrence Nance's Random Acts of Flyness (HBO). He has a recurring role on the web series, Awkwardly. Additional film credits include, MY OTHER HOME (The Stephon Marbury Story) featuring Loretta Divine and NIGHTHAWKS with Kevin Zegers. As a lead actor in the upcoming feature, STILL HERE, Maurice also worked behind-the-scenes as an associate producer.Maurice is a member of SAG/AFTRA and Actors Equity Association. Most notably, he participated in a workshop of a new play, HOME IS A VERB (Ensemble Studio Theatre), written by Michelle Cooper as part of the Rehabilitation Through the Arts program-an organization that helps former convicts transition back into society. Because it was an endeavor and experience he found profoundly impactful, Maurice plans to dedicate his time and talent to the organization in the future. The workshop was performed before an invited audience at Carnegie Hall.On camera, Maurice has appeared on the television series, Elementary (CBS), 24 (ABC), and Terrence Nance's Random Acts of Flyness (HBO). He has a recurring role on the web series, Awkwardly. As a lead actor in the upcoming feature, STILL HERE, Maurice also worked behind-the-scenes as a co-writer and producer.
