About Manoush
Actress, singer, born as the 3rd child of a Manouche Sinti mother and a German-American father, had her first movie appearance as "Ariana" in "M-Inspiration" (1998) and "Engagement" (1998). After playing killer "Lucretia" in the unfinished Belgian action movie "Time to Kill" (1999) she appeared in a minor role in'Vivian Naefe''s " Einer geht noch' (2000)_ (TV) closely followed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet'''s _Amélie (2001). Frequent TV and movie appearances established Manoush in the film industry all over Europe and after 2006 in the USA as well.Besides acting Manoush works on her own songs after, in the early 90s, being discovered by German producer Jörg Pasler, who was fascinated by her lyrics and her guttural, sometimes coarse voice and her way of interpreting songs.::update by NRC management
Nicole Barandyai, aka Manoush was born to a Manoush Sinti mother and a German American father in Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer in France .Due to her family's problems with the father her mother left her husband and raised her children in several cities all over Europe. Manoush started earning money for the family with modeling at the age of 18 but quit after a car accident which left scars on her legs and stomach at the age of 20. Also at the age of 18 she married 19 year old Sonyo Lakatos but annulled the marriage only 3 weeks later.Before getting into acting and movies in summer of 1997 she worked with several punk rock and cyberpunk bands writing lyrics and singing; with only limited success. All bands had more notoriety for their stage performances than being successful with music. In early 2000 she was offered the role of the "nymphomaniac woman" in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amélie (2001) which opened doors to the TV industry as well as to further feature films for her, establishing Manoush as "the bad girl" for the roles she played. In 2004 she played fighter Carda in "Angel of death 2" aka "The prison island massacre" by, closely followed by 'Marian Dora''s controversial movie "Cannibal" (2005), 'Timo Rose''s _"Barricade"(2007)_ and Andrey Iskanov's "Philosophy on a knife" (2008). Besides working as a film actress she writes and sings songs and also contributed songs and scores to: _"Craig" (2007)_, track: "Cruel is my love sore is my heart", "Philospohy of a knife"(2008), track: "Dead before born" Andrey Iskanov also produced a video for this song with material from _"Philosophy of a knife" (2008). The video caused so much controversy for its violent content that it got banned in several countries, meeting the same fate as Manoush's infamous song "Cop Killer/Full metal CK " years earlier....
