At the time of her enrollment, Widdifield was the only high school within her community to offer both dance and performance art classes. In 2005, Bean won an Award of Merit at the Sears Festival Regional Showcase after her performance in Hart House Theatre (Toronto). That same year, Bean left to pursue a degree at Brock University (Performance Acting) at the age of seventeen. In 2006, she spent Christmas in Germany and began studying the language. That summer she appeared in an SPC (Student Price Card) commercial. In 2009 she left Brock University and moved to Toronto to pursue acting.
