About Kevin Ng

Kevin is a New Zealand born Chinese of Hong Kong & Taiwan descent. He grew up in a small but one of the fastest developing towns in Auckland, called "Orewa". Having attended Drama School from a young age he continued his passion for it in 2009. His first performance to a live audience was in the musical "South Pacific". He went on to develop his craft in a series of musicals such as Peter Pan, Buddy Holly, and The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. It wasn't long after until Kevin was cast in a supporting role on movie set "KIN". He played the defense lawyer of Amadeus, a crime lord who had cryogenics to preserve his killing spree. Kevin was backing him up and ensuring he wasn't guilty.The movie was played to a live audience in Cinemas in Auckland in 2011.Shortly after, he decided to audition for drama school "South Seas, Unitec, and Meisner Classes" and was successful in getting into all of them. He spent his time training the fundamentals of Stanisvlaski (Intensively), Chekhov (Workshops), and Meisner Technique (Which he uses predominantly in his performances today).Kevin learned neutral mask, and a whole range of things which will be handy for acting. 8 months into training into South Seas, Kevin went on to audition for two lead roles in Children's Theatre and a play. He made through all the audition rounds and found himself at the end, though a beginning of a new journey ahead of him.He played 'Bitzer Maloney' in Lynley Dodd's best selling children's book, Hairy Maclary. Around the same time Kevin was also performing/rehearsing in a show called The Bone Feeder, which was written by playwright, Renee Liang, and directed by Lauren Jackson (Alex). Shortly after Kevin completed over 60 shows of Hairy Maclary and The Bone Feeder, Kevin went to take a short break in Sydney, Australia, where he made new connections with Acting Agents over there. He stumbled across many avenues in which could bring the best out of his acting, and predominantly hung out with the "Crazy, Rich, Asians".On route back to Auckland, New Zealand, Kevin started volunteering for charities such as the World Wild Life Fund and the Forest and Bird Society. He did this for almost a year before he was scheduled onto perform another season of Hairy Maclary in 2012.Unfortunately due to a lack of time spent around a computer, Kevin made the mistake of not checking his emails and was found at a later date that he was replaced in 2012's Hairy Maclary. This season also included a performance to Prince Charles & Camilla whilst on their 60th Diamond Jubilee Tour.This wasn't a big problem for Kevin as he knew he would have opportunities again at a later date.He went on to perform in several independent features, web series and pilots, in which some made to film festivals in America. Kevin also thought this would be a good time to train in some martial arts, already being a red belt in Tae Kwon Do (WTF), he took up Wing Chun with sigh Gary Y. Around the same time, Kevin worked as a production manager with TV3's 7DAYS and also helped out on a boy band's music video. Soon after, Kevin was cast in a Short + Sweet festival show called "The Adventures of Kazu and Kengo; Ninja Wannabees"... He played a ninja...The show went on to perform over a week and eventually won the "Best Overall Prize" and the "People's Choice Award".This was a huge achievement for Kevin as being his first encounter with an award.
