About Karen Anstee
Originally trained as a violinist at the Royal Academy of Music, Karen came to filmmaking after a successful career in the music industry, playing for renowned opera, ballet and symphony orchestras in both the UK and USA, whilst recording for Film & TV, and performing as a backing musician for artists such as Sting, Kanye West and Goldfrapp. Since graduating with screenwriting MA from the London Film School, she has written and directed a series of award winning short films and founded Precious Hack Productions, which enables her to maintain control over her vision for her writing and create a genuinely collaborative, fun and respectful environment in which to make her films with a like-minded team that is 50% female and diverse across disciplines. Alongside filmmaking, Karen has also had work adapted for BBC Radio and her novel, based in the world of opera - When the Fat Lady Thins - is available via Amazon....
