About Jay Brigham

American-born actor Jay (Jaquan) Brigham, was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona where he attended Powell Junior High(Mesa) and showed his first interest in theater by auditioning for the school's musical "Once On This Island", a junior Broadway spin-off of the award-winning show, landing a supporting role as "Agwe" the water god. Satisfied with his performance, Jay continued to pursue his theatrical interest by developing his craft throughout high school and landing several notable Shakespeare leads like Mercutio (Romeo And Juliet), Romeo (Romeo And Juliet), Demetrious (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Macbeth (Macbeth) and Othello (Othello) in the process. Catching the eye of teachers inspired by his talent, Jay was encouraged and succeeded in landing a spot in Camp Broadway, a musical theater intensive camp held annually at Arizona State University. Impressing his instructors with his improvisational abilities, Jay earned most comedic actor with his comedy entitled "The Circle of Grease", a meshed spoof of the popular historical productions, "Grease"; and "The Lion King" (Disney). Trenched with theater success, Jay participated in the Omega Shi Phi (Fraternity) Talent Competition in Seattle, Washington earning 3rd Place with a heart-stopping monologue performance from Oliver Stone's Hollywood feature film, "Any Given Sunday" (1999) originally performed by Al Pacino. Upon graduating from Westwood High School (Mesa) in 2003, Jay was awarded The Dean Hunt Spirit Award (2003) and Actor of The Year (2003). Following high school, Jay traveled to New York where he competed in the International Model and Talent Association (2005), earning several awards including International Model and Talent Association Actor of The Year (2005). Returning home (2006), Jay auditioned for Television's WB SixPak (TV Personality), racked up enough votes to make the show but was disqualified because he was not of age. Failing to make show, Jay wrote, directed and produced a 15-minute Internet documentary entitled "The Truth about Men". The video has amassed over 200,000 views and racked up 30000+ comments worldwide earning him a spot on the Internet's viral video chart (2007) reaching the status of "googable"; in the summer of 2008. Fan base continuing to spread, Jay landed a role as Public Defender Kaleel James in Synthetic Human Pictures film "I'm Voting Republican", a spoof making light of the 2008 Presidential Election which gained its national spotlight by airing on TV's late night show with Keith Olbermann garnering over 4 million views worldwide on Youtube. In the summer of 2008, Jay took to the screen for the first time as a lead enjoying much success in Phoenix Independent Film Makers Group's "The Mating Game", a 3-minute spoof about speed dating set to compete in the 2008 Phoenix Film Festival (Arizona). As a member the nationwide theater troupe, "Murder Mystery Players" (Houston, Texas), Jay completed a dinner theater comedy entitled "Murder In The Mens Room". Cast as the hilarious Dennis DePower, an over-emotional managing partner in a company with serious integrity issues, Jay garnered hundreds of laughs and turned heads with his off the wall improvisational ability. Murder Mystery Players has called for Jay once again to play the infamous Detective Buddy Brown in the troupe's latest production "Date with Death" set to start production fall of 2008 with shows scheduled in Tempe and Scottsdale, Arizona....
