James Konczyk was born in New Jersey and raised by his maternal grandparents. He has Polish and Italian ancestry from his father's side and British, Scotch-Irish, Jewish, and Hungarian ancestry from his mother's side.Growing up he was active in martial arts for most of his life and was passionate about writing short stories and drawing. After graduating high school he went on to earn a Marketing Degree from Stockton University in Pomona, NJ and set his sights on a career in the business world.Everything would change three months later when he met Juliet Landau at a sci-fi convention and was inspired to become an actor after watching, acting legend, Martin Landau's performance in Ed Wood.
