About David Callanan
David is a native Bostonian and is the youngest of six boys raised by his parents Callanan, James and Callanan, Ursula. He has a wife and two daughters and he has worked a variety of jobs from janitor to manager to support himself through HS and college. That work providing extensive life experiences from which he draws on as an actor. David grew up with a love of TV, The Big Screen, film actors and the characters they portrayed.Before becoming a professional actor, David's artistic outlet was music. Always a dramatic front man, it was acting in music videos that eventually led him to realize his dream of a career as a film actor. David began work as a professional actor by taking a chance on an open call for Black Mass and while working for three days onset it was a revelation as to what he wanted to be. Only a few weeks later, he auditioned for a principal role in Spotlight. He was not cast but at the call back the director encouraged him to pursue film acting professionally and since then he has had a variety of professional training in Boston working toward that big break.Training in Boston and working in over a dozen films, in scenes with some of SAGs finest actors, has been an exciting and rewarding learning experience for David and he received his first screen credit in Chappaquiddick. His personal acting breakthrough ironically was not in film but by doing theatre gaining invaluable stage acting experience as the lead in a play. The original stage play was successful enough to be adapted into a screenplay and feature film in which David starred with a great cast from Ashland Community Theatre. The film was Best ComedyDrama at the Nor'Easter Awards 2018. David also composed and contributed the theme song used for this film and others.David is an artist with loves in a wide range of film, music, screen writing, filmmaking, photography, and graphic arts. He enjoys the outdoors, swimming, skiing, working out, and hiking to the car to go to the beach with family, friends and his dogs. He continues to enjoy training, working, and pursuing film opportunities both in and outside of the Boston area....
