Bonita Elery is one actress, improviser and sketch writer to keep on your radar. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, she knew at an early age that she was destined for stardom. Her fun loving, comedic personality was discovered at a young age. She knew that the countless hours spent in front of a mirror, welding a hairbrush as a microphone and a donning towel as a wig, would definitely pay off. She knew her place was to be around a camera, shining in the spotlight and brainstorming ideas behind the scenes.After graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta, She worked as a graphic designer for Fox News in Atlanta, Georgia. After a successful experience in the corporate world, her dreaming expanded to new heights, and she wanted to pursue something bigger. It was time to move and pursue personal endeavors. She sold her house, stepped out on faith, and she moved to New York City to fulfill her dreams. After wringing everything she could out of an acting class, she caught the acting bug. Bonita is a SAG-AFTRA actress, writer & stand-up comedienne. She has appeared on several shows such as Queen Sugar, Rectify, and Stargirl. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, she knew she was destined for stardom. After graduating from The Art Institute of Atlanta she worked as a graphic designer for Fox5 News in Atlanta. After a successful experience in the corporate world, she moved to NYC. She caught the acting bug & knew that entertaining others was her destiny. She's been in the industry for over 12 years and has trained at The Upright Citizens Brigade, High Wire, Dad's Garage, and Second City for improvisation and sketch. She was a company member of Improvisation News and The Improvised Vagina Monologues. She's been a guest performer for teams like The Dark Side of the Room and Bridges and Tunnels at The Pit. She is also a screenwriter and playwright. Her pilot, One Star Chef based on her life as a designer trying to be a caterer made it to round 2 of The Sundance Labs Workshop in L.A. She has written comedic monologues for Monologuestogo.com and The Shelter Theatre in NYC. Her comedic one-act play Hot Potato won The Fade to Black Play Festival and was directed and performed at The Match Theatre in Houston, TX. Most nights she's up late throwing a make-believe-bridal shower for her wedding to Idris Elba. You can listen to her podcast I am not a Robot or catch her performing stand-up in different venues throughout the city. She's working on a full-length dramatic play Kill The Queen....
