If you're looking for an eccentric, well-rounded actor don't look beyond Alexandria Denise. Born and raised in Memphis, TN she exercised her long term interest in acting at the age of fourteen but before then, performing was not foreign to her. After singing in the church choir, piano recitals, seven years of marching band playing clarinet and modeling at a young age, Denise's infatuation with acting had bloomed into a passion after seeing Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Alexandria put her dream into action by studying the basics of acting in high school and learning the entertainment industry. As her technique in acting developed, so did the opportunities.Early 2007, she trained under model Kevin ""KY"" Young at his newly found talent school, Panda Models & Talent. The primary goal was to construct talent in the area of modeling so very little acting was involved but within the year spent training with KY, she developed a bad ass catwalk and one of the key characteristics of being a performer-- confidence. A year later, Panda had closed but a month later, Alexandria's mother found out at the last minute about a modeling competition. She entered the day of the competition and after challenging thirty-four other girls and two guys, she won a one year scholarship to Leonard Pegues' Reflections Model & Talent Agency. Yet again, only the demands of modeling were met.It wasn't until Alexandria's senior year in high school that her acting talent was exposed in school programs, performing poetry and class plays, playing characters from required text like Beowulf as Beowulf, Shakespeare's Macbeth as Lady Macbeth and The Canterbury Tales as Wife of Bath, which she also directed other students in. Her first Hollywood experience was as a background actor in Soul Men that stared Samuel Jackson and Berne Mac and the second exposure was working as a multi-featured talent in MTV's $5 Cover Memphis directed by Craig Brewer who also directed Hustle & Flow & Black Snake Moan.Right after high school in 2008, she entered Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee with her mind set on one major. After putting in four in half years of work, Alexandria graduated on time in 2012 with a BA in Speech Communications and Theatre. During that time of polishing up her skills on stage she decided it was time to move again. Walt Disney World is where she headed in 2013 to be apart of the College Program. She was deployed to Disney's Hollywood Studios to work as a Tour Guide at the Studio Backlot Tour. Though excited about being at Disney, learning more about the movie industry, and being around authentic props and costumes, it wasn't enough to satisfy what she seek.The program ended and she was temporarily part-time as custodial before getting full time as Tour Guide at The Great Movie Ride. For a moment, it felt right. She was performing. The ride had all of The Poetics of theater. Alexandria was "Gangster trained" at GMR in July 2015 but not before she entered a galaxy far, far away preparing "Younglings" to battle the Darkside of the Force at The Jedi Training Academy."I enjoy sticking to the theme as I interact with the kids, which is how I became a Star Wars geek," she states.Along the way Alexandria has met and received career advice from celebrities such as voice actors James Arnold Taylor, Steve Blum, action star Ray Park, (who also signed her Karate orange belt), Warwick Davis and many others.
